More about Mae
Mae brings her deep rooted passion for anatomy and physiology and over 15 years of teaching experience to her classes, including many years of teaching at the STOTT Pilates® training center of San Francisco. She is a lifelong student of movement, a certified STOTT Pilates® instructor, and a classically trained professional ballet dancer with a BFA in Dance from UC CCM.
Through her experiences with extreme athleticism and personal injury management, it became clear that she wanted to devote her life to the study of healing through movement, the power of altering perception, and the continual exploration of how to best help people with their pain.
Inspirations
Inspired by teachers including Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Anna Halprin, and Frederic Franklin, and following in the footsteps of her mentor, Augusta Moore, Mae offers space to practice Pilates as a means of self exploration and healing.
Continuing her study of movement-based somatic embodiment, she is currently training to become a Body-Mind Centering® practitioner.
What is STOTT Pilates®?
STOTT Pilates® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by Joseph Pilates, incorporating modern exercise principles including contemporary thinking on spinal rehabilitation, fascial integration, muscle conditioning and athletic performance enhancement.
The repertoire of mat work and equipment-based exercises contains a full range of preparations and modifications that caters to many different physical needs and abilities.
